The location of the hazardous waste landfill is located about 6 km east of Karlovac city, and south from the Lemić brdo settlement. The size of the parcel is 13,047 m2, rectangular shape. Surface for disposal of hazardous waste and contaminated soil at the location was performed, with separated space for organic and inorganic waste. The area of the project subsequently expanded when waste contamination was detected outside the zone of existing remediation. This area was subjected to the same conditioning and disposal process as that within the waste disposal site.

Control procedures were carried out regarding the conformity assessment of parts of the building with essential requirements for the construction, as well as proof of the quality of the construction works, the usability of mounted equipment and building products through the authorized person. Testing of soil samples were also carried out by an authorized institution, reports were submitted for each sample and method of treatment (depending on the degree of contamination) is defined according to the project task.
The total value of the project is approximately 19 million kunas and the value of rehabilitation works is 15,4 million kunas. Works are co-financed from EU funds through the 2007-2013 Environmental Operational Program in the amount of 85%, the remaining funds were provided by the Croatian Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency.
